TECHNIQUE: Background Cut And Lift Paper Technique Left page: Trace around the upper left corner of the photo mat onto the background paper with your pencil. Remove the matted photo. Place the background paper on your cutting mat. Use your knife to cut around only the flower blossoms and leaves cluster that overlap the inside of your pencil line. Lift the cut edges slightly and replace the matted photo on the page beneath the cut edges. Glue the cut leaves and blossoms overlapping the photo/mat as shown. Erase any remaining pencil lines. Right page: Trace around the entire outer edge of each photo mat with your pencil. Remove the matted photos. Place the background paper on your cutting mat and use your knife to cut around only the flower blossom and leaf areas that overlap the inside of your pencil line for each photo. Lift the cut edges slightly and replace the matted photos on the page beneath the cut edges. Glue the cut leaves and blossoms overlapping the photos/mats as shown.
