Exploding Box—Vintage Christmas

Instructions:

1. For the box: Follow the package directions to remove the box components from the backing. Glue the decorative squares to the appropriate inside box panel surfaces. Use the bone folder to crease the box scores as directed.

2. For the box inside: Glue the medium box centered on the large box’s inside center panel. Foam tape snowflake and present die-cuts to the medium inside panels, then place a pearl in the center of each snowflake and present’s bow.

3. Cut two slits in the center panel of the small box, positioned near opposite corners as shown. Cut two ⅜"x3½" wide strips of acetate and fold ½" under on one end of each. Slip this end through a slit and secure on the box back with a piece of sticky tape. Repeat with the second acetate strip through the second slit, then secure the small box inside the medium box.

4. Attach two snowflake die-cuts to the end of one acetate strip, back-to-back, making sure the snowflakes extend no higher than 3½" above the box bottom. Repeat with another set of snowflakes on the second strip, then place crystals in the centers of all four snowflakes. Cut the “with love” tag to 1¼" long, then foam tape it between the strips.

5. For the box outside: Refer to the photos to foam tape sentiment die-cuts to the outer panels of the large box. 

6. For the lid: Follow the package directions to make the lid and place it on the box. Wrap the ribbon around the box once and tie it on top, leaving 2"-3" tails. Make a 4-loop bow with the same ribbon and tie the center with thread. Carefully glue the bow over the knot in the first ribbon, making sure glue doesn’t touch the lid. 

7. When the glue is dry, foam tape the “for you” tag die-cut angled from under the bow. The ribbon can simply be slipped off the box to open it and placed back on the box to secure it.
