Painted Flowers Happy Card
Card front: Place the card with the fold on the left and cover the front with Botanical Etchings blue/pink paper. Use the Design Tool Kit #3 to cut a Victorian Cutaway from Botanical Etchings maroon paper, trimming it to 3" wide. Place the velvet ribbon along the straight edge, wrapping the ends to the back. Then glue the cutaway to the front, aligning the left edges as shown.
Cut 4"x3" watercolor paper and stamp the flower cluster with Black ink in the lower left corner. Heat the ink to set it. Stamp three butterflies around it as shown. Using the pencils, color the large flower with #119. Color the shadowed areas with #125, then brush each petal with water. While the petals are damp, use #133 to color the shadowed areas of the petals and draw streaks on them. Color the center with #111 and brush with water.
For the yellow blossom, use #105 for the base color and #108 in the center. Brush with water, then use #111 in the center. Repeat for the small yellow flowers, just using #105 and #108, then brushing with water. For both red flowers, use #130 for the base color and #121 for shadows. Brush with water, then shade again with #133.
For the leaves, color with #168, then add streaks of #166. Brush with water. For the butterflies, color the center ovals with #154, the upper wings with #143, and the lower wings with #141. Brush with water. Round the corners with the punch, then mat on maroon cardstock with 1/16" borders. Mat on blue cardstock with 1/32" borders, then glue to the front, slipping the left side under the ribbon lace.
For the greeting: Cut 3¼"x3/8" watercolor paper, then cut into a 1 1/8"x3/8” and two 1"x3/8” pieces. Notch one end of each, then stamp “laugh” on the longest and “live” and “love” on the shorter pieces. Glue to the bottom right side as shown. Make a ribbon bow with four loops and tie the center with thread. Glue to the border on the upper left. Thread the button with thread and glue to the bow center. Place rhinestones and pearls as shown.
Card inside: Use the tool kit to trace and cut a Lavish Label from Botanical Etchings maroon paper and mat on blue cardstock with 1/16" borders. Glue centered on the inside. Cut 3½"x3¼" watercolor paper and stamp the swirly blossom on the bottom right corner. Stamp two butterflies and “be Happy” as shown. Heat set the ink.
Color the blossoms as for the front panel. For the butterflies, color the center ovals with #154. Color around the ovals with #143 and the outer edges with #141. Brush the flowers and butterflies with water, cleaning the brush after each color. Round the corners of the paper, then mat on maroon cardstock with 1/16" borders. Wrap ribbon across the bottom and knot on the lower left. Glue to the label, then place rhinestones as shown.
