Remove the inner pieces from the 3 tryptich panels and set aside. Ink the edges of each panel black and let dry. Place the large panel at the center, the panel with the large window opening on the left, and the panel with the 4 small window openings on the right.
For the left panel: Place the panel on black/tan words paper, even with the left edge of the paper and with the border centered on the left side through the window opening. Trace around the panel and the left edge of the window opening with a pencil. Cut around the shape, then carefully cut around the portion of the border that will overlap the window opening. Glue even with the panel, then turn over onto your cutting mat and finish trimming excess paper from the window with your knife, leaving the border in place.
Cut a 3 1/4"x1/4” strip of tan words paper and glue to red paper leaving a thin border at the top. Glue across the left panel, even with the right side. Tear a small piece of a vintage ticket and mist with crushed shells glimmer mist. Punch a 3/4" circle from another vintage ticket. Ink the edge of both pieces black. Arrange the pieces overlapping 1” of black/white gingham as shown. Glue a photo to the large rectangle that fits inside the window opening and ink the edges black. Place beneath the panel, aligned with the window opening, then press into place. Glue the edge of the paper border over the photo. Ink edges of the panel.
For the center panel: Cover panel with striped paper, trimming the edges evenly. Mat photo on red paper, then black cardstock with 1/16” borders. Glue to the panel, even with the right edge as shown. Mist a journal notes ticket with red velvet glimmer mist and ink the edges black. Write or computer print names and “sisters” on the lines. Foam tape angled to the left side of the panel, overlapping the photo as shown. Cut out a small butterfly from striped paper and mat on black with a thin border. Lightly fold the wings and foam tape the body to the left side of the ticket as shown. Glue a 5 1/2" length of black mini rick rack across the panel, 2 1/2” from the top. Ink the edges of the panel black.
For the right panel: Cover panel with 4 window cut-outs with tan/black flourishes paper, trimming the outside edges evenly. Turn the piece over onto your cutting mat and use your knife to carefully trim away the area inside each window. Cut a 4 1/2”x1” section from striped paper and glue across the panel, even with the bottom edge. Ink the edges of a 4 1/2"x1/2” tan words paper strip and mat on red/black dotted paper. Ink the edges and glue across the panel, 1 1/2" from the top.
Write or computer print year on tan textured paper, trim to a rectangle and ink the edges. Glue to the lower right portion of the panel. Print photos to fit 2 of the small window openings and glue each photo to the inner piece for the window. Ink the edges black. Place beneath the panel, aligned with the window opening, then press into place. Cut out 2 small butterflies from remaining striped paper. Mat on black, leaving a thin border on each. Fold the wings and foam tape to the panel as shown. Ink the edges of the panel black.
For the stenciled images: Place the butterfly stencil on tan textured paper. While holding the stencil in place, use the squeegee to obtain a small amount of Artist Spackle and spread the spackle evenly over the stencil. Carefully lift the stencil and set aside the spackled image to dry. When dry, mist with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist until desired color is reached. Let dry, then cut around the image. Lightly fold the wings and foam tape the body to the left panel, overlapping the lower left corner of the photo as shown. Repeat this process for two flowers, then punch 1/4" red/black dotted circles for centers. Foam tape overlapping the journal ticket on the center panel. Zot red/black gingham bow as shown.
Cover one of the remaining rectangle inner pieces with tan words paper and ink the edges. Use the vine stencil and spackle to create a stenciled image over the piece as for step #7, and let dry. Mist with Crushed Shells Glimmer Mist and let dry. For the remaining inner piece, cover with a vintage ticket trimming edges evenly. Ink edges black. Obtain a small amount of spackle and add to your acrylic block or waxed paper. Mist with Red Velvet Glimmer Mist (I misted 4-5 times) and mix with the squeege until the color is even. Use the vine stencil and red spackle to create the image over the prepared inner piece. Let dry, then mist with Red Velvet Glimmer Mist and let dry. Press the piece into place.
Add small Flip Flop Fasteners to the back of the window pieces to hold them securely. Add 3 large Flip Flop Fasteners evenly spaced to the right edge of the left panel and repeat for the left edge of the right panel. Now, leaving 1/8” of space between each panel, place the center panel between the left and right panels, holding the three pieces together with the fasteners. Turn the pieces over and press fasteners securely in place.
