Star Iris Folding Card
For the Front: Place the card with the fold on the top. Trim the card to a 5" square. Cut a 5" square piece of brown cardstock. Near the top left, use Teresa's Pentagon Iris Folding Template to trace a large star with pencil. Cut out carefully using a craft knife and cutting mat. Set aside the star shape for the inside.
Cut a 3" x 7/8" piece of Homeward Bound red paper. Cut a “V” shape on the right side. Use VersaMark™ to stamp and emboss with Gold Embossing Powder "Choose to Shine" from the Paper Dolls stamp set. Mat on Gold Metallic paper with a 1/16" border and glue to card 1/4" from the right and 3/8" from the bottom, slightly overlapping the star shaped hole. With a craft knife, cut off any parts that overlap the hole.
Cut out a medium star from Homeward Bound compass paper and 2 small stars, 1 each from Homeward Bound blue and red/blue stripe. Mat the 3 stars on Gold Metallic paper with a 1/16" border. Glue to the brown cardstock positioned as shown. With a craft knife, trim the parts that overlap the star shaped hole. Trace a large star on the back of Gold Metallic paper. Then, sketch a second line around the drawn star, making a 1/8" frame around the star. Cut out both the inner and outer star lines to make a gold star frame. Match this frame up with the star shaped hole on the brown cardstock and glue as shown.
Iris Folding: Place the brown cardstock face down with the star over the template. With the piece placed face down on the template, the star shaped hole should now appear near the top right. Position it over the template so that the inner pentagon of the iris is near the right side of the star. Tack down to the template with stencil tape. Cut and fold paper strips using Homeward Bound red, blue, compass, map, and Gold Metallic papers. Lightly ink the folded edges with Metallic Gold StazOn® ink. Then, follow the template instructions to assemble and tape your strips to the cardstock. Finish by covering the inner pentagon with Metallic Gold paper. Remove the cardstock and flip over to view the front, making sure your iris looks as it should.
Insert Embellies™ brads into the centers of the stars as shown. Place Gold Star Jewel Dazzles as shown.
For the inside: Cover with Homeward Bound compass paper and ink edges gold. Using the saved brown cardstock star and cut out a small star from Metallic Gold paper and glue it to the brown star as shown. Randomly place Gold Star Jewel Dazzles™ as shown. Mat on Metallic Gold paper with a 1/16" border. Glue to the card near the bottom right corner, going off the card as shown. Trim even with the right side and ink edges gold.
