Sweet Pea Locking Gatefold Card
For the card front: To create the gatefold, open the card, then bring both sides in to meet in the center, leaving a very narrow gap (about 1/16") between the two panels. Cut 4¾"x6" Sweet Pea border cardstock with the stripes along the left edge. Cut it in half lengthwise to create two 2 3/8" wide pieces. Glue them to the front panels as shown.
Place gold border Dazzles™ along the upper and lower edges of the two cardstock panels, trimming the excess. Die cut a single-blossom sweet pea from green cardstock and the matching blossom from pink cardstock. Ink the stem and leaves with Pine Tree and the blossom with Pale Fig, then glue the blossom to the stem. Glue the flower to the front in the lower right corner.
Cut out the Sweet Pea “for my best friend” label and foam tape it at the lower right, over the flower stem. Place a ½" pink butterfly Dazzles™ on the sentiment.
For the inside: Cut 4"x6" Sweet Pea pink border paper with the borders on the right and bottom. Mat it on pink cardstock with 1/8" borders, then glue the panel centered on the inside. Place gold border Dazzles™ along the right and left edges, trimming the excess.
Die cut both flower stems from green cardstock and the matching blossoms from pink cardstock. Ink the edges as before, then glue the stems along the bottom as shown. Place the gold sentiment, candle and butterfly Dazzles™ on the panel as shown.
For the mechanism: Cut four 3¼"x3" Sweet Pea pink cardstock pieces. Fold two in half crosswise to create two 1 5/8"x3" pieces. Use 2-sided tape to attach the folded pieces to one of the flat cardstock pieces, making sure the folds meet in the center and the outer edges align. Attach the fourth cardstock piece to the two folded pieces, aligning the edges.
Cut 3"x2¾" Sweet Pea pink dotted cardstock and glue it centered on the mechanism’s top panel. Punch out the “hello to you” tag and attach a 5" crepe ribbon to it. Glue the tag angled on the front of the mechanism.
