For the journal front: Trace the journal front, not including the black binding strip along the left edge and cut it out. Cover the cardstock front with the glue stick glue, then carefully position the cat rice paper on the cardstock in the lower right corner, smoothing the paper from the center outward. Trim off the excess paper.
Place the stencil on the paper in the upper right corner and secure with repositionable tape. Use the palette knife to swipe cream paste into the upper 3½"x4" portion of the stencil, allowing the design to fade away along the left and bottom. Use the palette knife to lift up some of the paste so it’s thin in spots. Remove the stencil, clean it, and let the paste dry.
Replace the stencil over the paste design. Tap the watermark ink pad over the exposed cream paste. Remove the stencil. Cover the paste with embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat the remainder to melt it. Swipe the watermark ink pad along all the edges of the paper. Cover the edges with embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat the remainder.
In a small container, dilute acrylic glue 1-to-1 with water and mix well. Pick up some of the mix on the paintbrush. While holding the brush over the paper, gently tap the handle onto a finger, allowing the mix to splatter over the paper. Repeat for as many splatters as desired, then cover the splats with embossing powder and let the glue dry. Once dry, heat the splats to melt the embossing powder.
Use Extra Sticky tape to attach the decorated cardstock to the journal front. Cut out the Orchid & Cats yellow orchid blank label and stamp the “leave your print” on it with Seal Brown ink. Emboss the edges as for the paper, then use tape to secure it to the journal at the lower left. Cut out the Orchid & Cats “memories” and “love is the flower…” labels and emboss the edges. Glue both to the front as shown.
Remove the chipboard wreath, one blossom, a leaf, and a sprig from the base. Use the paintbrush to paint the chipboard pieces with the inks: paint the flowers Plum Jam with Damson Wine centers, the leaves Grasshopper, and branches Seal Brown. When dry, lightly tap the watermark ink pad randomly on the chipboard pieces then emboss them. Glue the wreath at the upper left and the blossom, leaf, and sprig in the lower right corner.
For the journal back: Trace the journal back onto cardstock as before and cut out. Cut the Clock off the sheet of rice paper and glue it to the cardstock, extending beyond the top and side edges.
Tear pieces of the White Orchid and Butterfly rice papers: Use the paintbrush with water to trace a line on the rice paper where you want to tear it. Wait a few seconds to let it soak in, then tear the paper. When dry, glue the pieces to the cardstock, filling in any empty areas. Trim off any excess rice papers along the edges of the cardstock.
