Cut 5”x6 1/2” of scrapbooking cardstock. Glue a 5”x6 1/2” maroon floral paper to the front. Flip the piece over (face down) and place the iris folding template face down on the blank side of the piece, tracing the Wild Fern at an angle, as shown. Carefully cut out the fern shape with an X-acto® knife. Use a sponge and the maroon inkpad to ink the edges of the fern shaped opening and the fern cutout.
Glue a 5”x6 1/2” teal floral paper to the front of your blank cardstock, placing the flowered corner of the paper on the lower right corner of the card. Set your maroon covered cardstonck on the front of your teal paper covered card (keeping edges even) and use the cutout area as a template to trace another fern. Open your card and lay the inside flat on a cutting mat. With an X-acto® knife, carefully cut 1/4” outside of the traced fern, and set aside. Place the opening of the maroon covered cardstock (face down) over the iris folding pattern (also face down) and secure the cardstock to the template with stencil tape.
Complete the iris folding on the fern, securing the paper strips on either side of the opening with small pieces of clear tape. From the paper pack, use green paper for the following strips: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. Use pink paper for the following strips: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19 and 20. Remove the piece from the template and turn over to the front. Glue a 7 1/2” length of plum organza ribbon 1/8” from the lower edge of your piece, anchoring ends on the back side. Glue the piece to the inside of your card, with the ribbon edge on the bottom. You should now be able to see the iris folded fern through the cutout on the front of the card when closed.
Place your closed card in front of you with fold at the top. Using the maroon fern cutout, cut two triangular shaped corner treatments, approximately 1 1/2”x1 1/2&rdquo,; and glue to the upper left and lower right corners of your card face. Zot™ on a foil papier tole fern to left side of the cutout, and Zot™ on a maroon organza bow to the base of the cutout. Using the Tiny Tags & Little Labels Template, trace two Bracket Label D cutouts on the pink paper, and cut them out. Mat these on green paper with a 1/8” border. Use a sponge and the maroon inkpad to ink the edges of the green matted labels. Place the “May Your Heart and Soul” stamp on your acrylic block, and use the VersaMark™ stamp pad to stamp in the center of one of the pink labels. Apply embossing powder to the stamped message, shake off the excess and use the heat gun to set. Do the same to the other label, using the “Find Peace and Comfort” stamp. Zot™ on a 4” length of maroon organza to lower right area of card, as shown, and foam tape on the “May Your Heart…” label.
For the inside: Using the teal fern cutout, cut two triangular shaped corner treatments, approximately 1 1/2”x1 1/2&rdquo,; and glue to the upper left and lower right corners. Foam tape on the “Find Peace…” label.
