Moments Slide Mount Book
Preparing the slide mounts: Place the slide mount pairs (leave attached) flat on your work surface, with the white side up. Apply clear tape over the entire hinge at the center of each slide mount pair to reinforce it. Fold each hinge, with the WHITE sides on the inside and the black sides outside. Place them black side up and apply white glue along the outside of each hinge. Smooth the glue with your finger and stand up. Place 3 slide mount pairs standing side by side, with the white side facing you. Place the 2 remaining pairs in front, with the black sides facing you as shown. (This is how the accordion book will be set up, so if you stand them up on your table it is easier to assemble. The outside panels will be glued to the coaster covers).
Adding paper and assembling the slide mounts: Cut out the 5 decorative paper squares. Set the butterfly square aside. Check placement of the first three squares into slide mounts then insert a brad in each as shown below. Glue the 4 squares, back to back onto 21/2" squares of French words paper. Glue the first paper square between the first black frame and the second white frame from the left. Glue the second paper square between the next frames to the right. Continue building the accordian book with the last two paper squares as shown. (The first and last white frames will be glued to the coasters in step #3.) Ink the edges of the slide mounts and hinges (covering any glue) with an ink pad or permanent pen. Add other cut-outs as shown below.
Coaster Covers: Cover one side of each coaster with Shine Design, gluing heavily. Trim the edges even with the coasters then ink the edges. Insides of cover: Glue each end of the slide mount book on an uncovered side of a coaster, with the hinge next to the edge. Place a flat item on top to weigh them down until dry. Cover the inside of the coaster with Shine Design, trim the edges even and ink. Cut two 23/4" squares of Memories paper and ink the edges. Cut out the words and images. Glue on the squares and insert a brad as shown. Glue centered on the inside of the covers. Outside front cover: Ink the butterfly square. Glue the “Moments” oval on the top right. Place the frame over it and insert 2 mini brads. Glue the “Dream” and flower cut-out as shown then insert a brad. Glue the butterfly square centered on the front, then foam tape the cut-out butterfly on the left edge.
Ribbons and “Made By” label: See the outside view below. Set aside the blue/green/metallic fiber. Cut the remaining fibers and burgundy ribbon in half. Wrap brown fiber and burgundy ribbon around the first hinge and knot. Tie white and blue fibers around the center hinge, and burgundy ribbon plus blue/brown fiber around the last hinge. Sign the ”Made by” label and glue it to the back of the book. Fold the book together and tie with the metallic fiber.
