Penguin Window Card
For the card front: With the fold at the top, cover the card with the blue textured paper from the striped border piece. Cut a 6 1/4” x 4 3/4” piece of the teal/blue patterned piece and glue it centered on the front. Open the card and lay it flat on the cutting surface. Cut a 3” square window in the card front, 3/4” from the right edge.
Trace the penguin patterns. Cut the body and wing from black, the tummy from white, and the beak from orange. Cut the hat from the blue dots and the hatband from blue stripes. Cut the base from white.
Glue the tummy onto the body, aligning the lower edges. Position the wing and body on the base with the wing extending from behind the body. Glue both to the base.
Glue the hatband to the hat, then add a starburst brad as the pompom, bending the prongs so they’re hidden on the back of the hat. Glue the hat to the penguin’s head, aligning the edges with the base. Glue the beak in place. Use the white pen to draw the eyes, then add pupils to the centers with the black pen. Glue the penguin to the front of the window, overlapping the lower and right edges by 1/4”.
Cut four 3/8” x 3 3/4” pieces of the stripes. Glue them around the window to frame it, covering all the edges of the penguin. Cut felt snowflakes off the ribbon and adhere them to the corners as shown.
Print the greeting in blue on white, then trim it out. Mat it on dots paper, then on blue, varying the mat widths as shown. Glue it to the card front on the left end and adhere a snowflake at the upper left. Add a 3mm glitter dome to the center of each snowflake. Add a 5mm glitter dome to the center of the hat pompom.
For the inside: Cut a 6 1/4” x 4 3/4” piece of the dots paper and glue it centered on the inside back. Cut a 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” piece of the blue textured paper and glue it in the center. Print the sentiment in blue on white, then mat it on teal and blue. Glue it to the inside back at the left end so it’s hidden when the card is closed. Adhere two snowflakes as shown, each with a 3mm glitter dome in the center.
