For the card front: Place the card with the fold on the left. Cut a piece of the red swirls paper to fit the card front but don’t glue it yet. Cut a 1½” x 6½” piece of the stripes paper and glue it along the left edge of the red piece.
Cut the twill into two 7½” lengths. Thread one end of each through the buckle, one over the top of the other. Pull both ends to extend 1½” beyond the buckle, then trim the ends at an angle.
Place the buckle along the right edge of the striped piece, 2” from the top edge. Use a glue dot to secure it. Add more glue dots to the back of the two twill pieces and adhere both in place. Trim off the excess twill, leaving ½” on each end to wrap to the back and glue.
Glue the constructed front to the blank card front.
Punch nine squares from the green paper and five from the ivory. Cut out the alphabet tiles to spell “joy” three times and “to you.” Mat all the joys on green. Mat “to you” on the ivory squares. Glue the letters for “JOY” to the front as shown.
Use the applicators to brush dark red chalk over the red areas on the card front, avoiding the twill. Brush light taupe over the stripes.
For the inside: Cut a 4” square of the red swirls and a 4” x 1” piece of the stripes. Glue the stripes to the red square near the upper edge. Mat the piece on green, then brush dark red and light taupe chalk over the pieces as before.
Glue the red piece centered on the inside back. Cut out “merry” and “Christmas” from the art page. Arrange it and the “to you” on the piece as shown and glue to secure.
