Salted Background Birthday Card
Card front: Place the card with the fold on top. Glue 6¼"x4¾" Happy Days orange paper centered on the front. Cut 5 3/8"x4 1/8" watercolor paper. Color the piece, using the watercolor pencils in this order from bottom to top: #117, #115, #111, #108, #147, #153, and #144. Overlap the colors where they meet, blending them together.
Spray the paper with water and brush lightly across the horizontal stripes, wiping the paintbrush off on paper towels between colors. Don’t overwork the colors, just paint until they’re blended. Immediately sprinkle salt over it (I roll the salt between my thumb and fingers to scatter it evenly over the paper). Set aside to dry, then rub off the salt.
Stamp a tree slightly off-center to the left and near the bottom of the panel. Ink the stamp again, then stamp it off once onto scrap paper. Stamp left of, and 5/8" higher than the first tree. Repeat the inking and stamping off to stamp a third tree right of the first tree. Mat the panel on yellow cardstock with 1/16" borders and glue centered on the front.
Die cut the lattice from yellow cardstock. Cut 1" off the 3¾" side and glue along the bottom of the orange paper. Cut another 1" section off the same side and trim to fit next to the first strip, butting the ends together. Glue in place. Die cut the smallest frame from orange cardstock. Stamp “celebrate” on yellow cardstock, then center the frame over it and glue. Cut around the edges, leaving a 1/16" mat. Insert an orange brad in each end and glue as shown.

Ink the tree stamp, then stamp it off on scrap paper. Stamp it on the panel near the left side. Stamp “Happy Birthday” overlapping the tree as shown. Mat the panel on teal cardstock with 1/8" borders and glue centered on the inside.
Die cut the smallest frame from teal cardstock. Stamp “Grandpa” on aqua cardstock, and glue the frame over it. Cut out, leaving a 1/16" mat. Insert a blue brad in each end, then glue as shown.
