Batik Birthday Card
For the card front: Turn the card with the fold on the left. Cut 5"x6½" black cardstock and glue to the front. Cut 4 7/8"x6 3/8" Wildflowers purple/black tiles paper and glue to the center front.
Cut 4½"x6½" Wildflowers tan tiles paper and stamp large roses evenly over it with VersaMark™ ink. Stamp small roses, leaves, and butterflies between the larger flowers with VersaMark™. Cover with embossing powder, tap off the excess, and heat to melt.
Crinkle the paper, open it and flatten, then crinkle again. Repeat until you like the number of crinkles, then place face down and flatten firmly with the bone folder. On the front, use the ink applicator to rub Dusty Concord, Brushed Corduroy, and Pine Needles Distress inks over the paper, blending the edges.
Trim the inked panel to 4"x5¾" and mat on black cardstock with 1/16" borders. Glue to the front, 3/8" from the right edge. Cut 6½"x1" Wildflowers lavender paper and 6½"x 5/8" striped paper. Glue the striped paper centered on the lavender paper.
Mat the long edges of the strip on purple cardstock with 1/16" borders, then on black cardstock with 1/8" borders. Wrap a 2" ribbon around the strip, 1½" from the bottom, and glue the ends to the back. Make a 4-loop bow and tie the center with thread. Wrap the bow center with the prongs of the “smile” brad, then glue the bow as shown.
For the inside: Cut 4¾"x6½" Wildflowers brown pindot paper and glue centered on the inside. Cut 4½"x6½" Wildflowers tan tiles paper and repeat the stamping, embossing, inking, and crinkling process as for the front panel. Trim to 3¾"x5 7/8" and mat on black cardstock with 1/16" borders. Glue ¼" from the right edge.
