Sliding Pop-Up Box Floral Birthday Card
For the card: Die cut all the card pieces from white cardstock. Fold the two long scores on the slider pocket in mountain folds. Place Extra Sticky tape on the long narrow tab and attach it to the inside of the pocket, along the opposite edge. Cut two 3 5/8"x1¾" purple dotted papers and glue one centered on each side of the slider pocket.
On both box base pieces, crease the vertical scores in valley folds and the longer horizontal scores in mountain folds. Place Extra Sticky tape on the larger base’s narrow tab, then attach it to the smaller base piece along the end edge that doesn’t have a tab.
Flatten out the box pieces and place with the inside facing up. Cut four 2 5/8"x1¾" purple dotted papers and glue one to each lower inside panel (don’t cover the panel that doesn't have an upper flap—it's the slider). Cut four 2 5/8"x 7/8" purple dotted papers and glue one to each flap. Place pink glitter thin line Dazzles™ near the outer edge of each flap, trimming the excess.
Turn the box over. Repeat to cover the lower panels and the flaps, but use blue dotted paper. Again, leave that end panel uncovered. Place blue glitter Thin Line Dazzles™ near the bottom of each lower panel, trimming the excess.
Fold the tabs on the slider pocket back and place Extra Sticky tape on both. Attach the slider pocket tabs to the inside of the box at the center score. Fold the box base over the pocket while inserting the slider into the slider pocket. Attach the remaining box base tab to the slider at the fold. Test the mechanism by pinching the box sides toward each other, causing the slider to slide all the way inside the pocket. To flatten the card, press the opposite box corners toward each other, causing the slider to slide part way out of the pocket.
Decorating the card: Die cut two 2¾"x4¼" arches from white cardstock and two 2¼"x3¾" arches from gray small gingham paper. Glue a gray paper centered on each cardstock arch.
Die cut 2" and 1½" flowers from pink and lavender glitter cardstock. Stack one of each together with foam tape. Die cut the tiny flowers from lavender, pink, and blue glitter cardstock. Glue a small blue flower to each large flower stack.
Die cut large stems and leaves from green glitter cardstock. Glue the stems, leaves, and foam tape the flowers to the arches as shown. Place black “live,” “laugh,” and “love” Dazzles™ on one arch and “happy birthday” Dazzles™ on the other arch as shown.
