Butterfly pop-up

Follow the directions in the book for creating the card, but don’t add the butterfly art or assemble the butterfly pop-up yet. Fold the wings of the small paper art butterflies together, then attach the bodies to the card front and inside with foam tape. For the antennae, cut a 1” length of memory thread, fold in half, then wrap the ends around the stalk of a cotton swab to curl them. Zot in place beneath the head of the butterfly. Repeat for 2 more butterflies. Use the brown pen to draw antennae for the remaining small butterflies.

For the bodies, cut a 5 ½” length of memory thread. Cut in half, place side by side, and twist together tightly. Trim to fit the bodies of 3 butterflies, and Zot in place over the paper body.

Using the pink butterfly wings as a template, trace the shape onto the white swirl vellum and cut it out. Fold the wings together. Glue the brown butterfly with folded body to the center of the inside. Layer the two sets of wings together with a thin piece of foam tape between them at the center. Apply a thin piece of foam tape beneath the body area of the vellum wings and attach the layered wings beneath the folded body on the inside of the card. Ink card edges.
