Thankful Card
Front: Place your blank card with the fold at the left. Cover the card with black cardstock. Cut a 4 7/8”x6 3/8” white cardstock. Use the Picked Raspberry Distress ink pad and color 2 areas of the cardstock with it, near the center and lower right side. Now color 2-3 more white areas of the cardstock with the Spiced Marmalade ink, on the upper left, right, and lower left, allowing the colors to overlap just slightly. Finish the remaining white areas with Mustard Seed ink.
Place the inked cardstock on a paper towel. Take the Squares Sticky Stencil and pull it off the plastic backing. Mist the non-sticky side of the stencil with a good amount of water. Place the stencil with the wet side face down centered on the inked cardstock. Gently press the plastic backing on top, over the entire piece. Carefully lift the stencil and plastic and blot them dry with a paper towel. Set the inked background aside to dry. Glue the background centered on the card.
Take the large flower stencil and repeat the misting technique in step #2, for 2 flowers--1 using Mustard Seed ink and 1 using Spiced Marmalade ink, each on a piece of white cardstock a little larger than the flower. Let dry. Replace the clean stencil (non-sticky side down) aligned with the pattern of the yellow flower and use the pencil to lightly outline it. Remove the stencil and cut out the flower on the pencil lines. Erase any remaining lines. Cut out the center from the orange flower and mat it on black cardstock with thin borders. Foam tape centered on the yellow flower. Mat the flower on black with thin borders.
Use the same water misting technique to create 2 leaves using Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers inks on white cardstock, overlapping them to create mixtures of green, yellow, and a touch of blue. Cut out the leaves as you did for the flowers and mat on black cardstock with thin borders. Glue or foam tape the leaves and flower on the right side of the card as shown.
Ink a 4”x4” piece of white cardstock with Mustard Seed ink and mist it with water 3-4 times. Let dry completely. Position the “thankful” stencil on the bottom half of the inked cardstock and smooth in place. Use a dauber to apply black ink to the word opening of the stencil. Use your pencil to trace around the outside edge of the stencil on the inked cardstock. Peel up the stencil and wash with soap and water. Cut out the stencil shape with the word centered on it. Mat on black cardstock with thin borders. Foam tape on the card, 1/2" from the left side and 3/4" from the top. Open the card out flat, facing up. Use your knife to cut a 1/8” long slit in the fold of the card, 1/2" from the bottom. Thread a 24” length of 1/8” wide black grosgrain ribbon through the slit from the inside of the card and tie a bow on the front as shown. Zot™ the center of the bow in place on the card.
Inside: Use the misting technique to create a 5”x2” piece of cardstock like the background used for the front, 1 leaf, and a small pink flower and yellow center. Create a word block on the remaining yellow inked cardstock using the “friends” stencil. Mat each piece on black cardstock as before. Glue the matted background centered on the card. Glue a 2” length of black 1/8” wide grosgrain ribbon down the right side of the piece as shown. Layer the leaf, word block, and flower with center on the left side of the background. Glue/foam tape in place.
