Note: all matting on this card is done with a 1/16" border around the objects. All holes punched are 1/8" holes.
For the front: Place your card with the fold on the top. Cover the card with brown cardstock. Cut 6 3/8" x 4 7/8" of green textured chevron. Glue 1 1/2" x 6 3/8" of wood grain across the chevron paper 1" from the bottom.
Print "2015" in the center of 2" x 1" of light brown. To do this, I use a technique called computer journaling: Type up your chosen greeting and print it on the page with plenty of room around it (in Word, it helps to insert a text box so the words are easily moved wherever you want on the page). Place the printed page over a light source and align the light brown paper over the printed part to make sure it's centered. Use small pieces of Scotch tape to secure in place. Run through your printer, printing the exact same way, and the words will land on the light brown paper. You can also do this with multiple pieces of paper on one pass (just tape separate pieces of paper over separate words. Once "2015" is printed. Use the Tiny Tags & Little Labels Template to trace Rectangular Label D around it and cut out. Mat on brown cardstock. Punch a hole in both sides of the label. Thread brown twine through the left end and tie in a knot. Cut the end about 3" long. Do the same with the right hole, leaving about 5" on the end. Foam tape the label 5/8" from the top and 1 3/8" from the left. Wrap the ends of the twine around and tape to the back of the paper.
Use the computer journaling technique to print "Happy," "Retirement," and "Deer" on 3 different papers as shown. For the top tag use Rounded Tag D; for the middle tag use Square Tag D; and for the bottom tag use Rounded Tag C. Mat all tags on brown cardstock and punch a hole in the end. Top tag: Tie narrow sheer blue ribbon through the hole, leaving enough to wrap around the paper. Foam tape 1" from the right and 2" from the top. Middle tag: Tie twine through the hole and foam tape 5/8" from the right and 1/8" below the top tag. Bottom tag: Tie narrow orange grosgrain ribbon through the hole and foam tape 7/8" from the right and 1/8" below the middle tag. Wrap all ends of the ribbon around the left edge of the paper and tape to the back.
Assemble the deer head paper tole piece with foam tape. Foam tape to the card 1/4" from the left and 3/8" from the top, as shown. Finally, glue the completed piece centered to the card.
For the inside: Glue 6 1/2" x 2 1/4" of tan texture across the card 1 3/4" from the bottom. Place a border Dazzles™ along the bottom edge of the paper. Back a small deer head Dazzles™ with light brown paper and glue to the bottom right as shown. Cut Bracket Label A from the template with light brown and mat on wood grain. Glue to the card 1/2" from the left and top. Peel off "Life is an adventure" Dazzles™ and back "Adventure" with green. Glue the Dazzles™ centered over the label as shown.
