Carnations Graduated Pop-Up Card
Designer’s Note: This card has lots of measurements to follow, but it is very, very easy to create, and so striking when it’s finished! I always enjoy creating this card for special occasions, or just to say I’m thinking of someone.
Instructions:
1. For the base: Cut 10"x5" white cardstock and place it horizontally. Score it 2" and 4" from the left end. Crease the 2" score in a mountain fold and the 4” score in a valley fold. Cut 5¾"x4¾" Carnations yellow border cardstock. Place gold thin line Dazzles™ near the upper and lower edges, trimming the excess. Glue the cardstock centered on the largest base panel.
2. Cut 3½"x4¾" Carnations yellow border cardstock from the left side, then cut it into two 1¾"x4¾" pieces. Place thin line Dazzles™ on both pieces to match the large panel. Glue the cardstocks centered on the two left end base panels.
3. For the second tier: Cut 5½"x3¼" white cardstock and place it horizontally. Score it 1½", 3½", and 5" from the left end. Crease all the scores in mountain folds. Cut 1¾"x3" Carnations pink textured cardstock and glue it centered on the second panel. Cut 1¼"x3" Carnations pink textured cardstock and glue it centered on the third panel. Place gold thin line Dazzles™ near the upper edges and lower, trimming the excess.
4. Place sticky tape on the first and last panels. Position the first panel on the base, centering the left edge against the 4" score on the base. Fold the tier on the second score, tucking the right end under. Flatten the card base front over the tier and press to secure.
5. For the third tier: Cut 4½"x2½" white cardstock and place it horizontally. Score it 1", 3", and 4" from the left end and crease all the scores in mountain folds. Cut 1¾"x2¼" and ¾"x2¼" Carnations pink textured cardstocks. Glue them to the second and third panels, then place gold thin line Dazzles™ near the upper and lower edges, trimming the excess. Place sticky tape on the first and last panels, then attach it to the base and the second tier as before.
6. For the fourth tier: Cut 2¾"x1½" white cardstock and place it horizontally. Score it ½", 1¾", and 2¼" from the left end and crease all the scores in mountain folds. Cut 1"x1¼" and ⅜"x1¼" Carnations pink textured cardstock. Glue them to the second and third panels, then place gold thin line Dazzles™ as before. Place sticky tape on the end panels, then attach it to the base and the third tier as before.
7. Use the tri-blend markers to color the chipboard pieces shown, blending the colors for depth. Glue the “hello” cutout to the upper front as shown. Glue five chipboard pieces to the panel as shown. Glue a stemmed carnation and butterfly to the second tier. Foam tape the “best of birthdays” and a small butterfly to the third tier as shown. Glue a bud and a butterfly to the fourth tier.
8. For the back: Cut 5"x4" light yellow cardstock and glue it centered on the back. Cut 2½"x3¾" Carnations yellow border cardstock and glue it to the yellow cardstock, ⅛" from the right end. Glue the label die-cut shown near the center.
