Photos: For the left page: Turn the background paper so the border is at the left side. Mat the 4” x 5” vertical photo on brown swirls paper leaving a 1/16” border. Mat again on orange squares/dots paper, leaving a 1/8” border at top, right, and bottom, and a ¼” border at the left side (a row of squares/dots). Glue the matted photo to a 6 ¾” x 6 ¼” tan/orange/burgundy/blue checked paper, centered, leaving 2” of space at the right side. Ink edges brown then black, then mat on brown swirls paper leaving a 1/8” border. Glue to the page, 3 ¼” from the right side and ¾” from the top.
For the right page: Turn the background paper so the border is at the left side. Mat the 3 1/8” x 4 ¾” vertical photo on orange squares/dots paper leaving a 1/8” border. Ink the edges brown and glue to the page, 1 ¼” from the right side and ¾” from the top. Mat the 4” x 6” vertical photo on tan/orange/burgundy/blue checked paper, leaving a ¼” border. Mat again on brown swirls paper leaving a 1/16” border. Glue to the page 2” from the left side and ½” from the top.
Mat the 6” x 4” horizontal photo on brown swirls paper, leaving a 1/16” border. Mat on tan/orange/burgundy/blue paper leaving a ½” border, gluing only the left side of the photo in place. Mat again on orange squares/dots paper, leaving a 1/16” border. Ink the edges brown. Cut one row of squares/dots from the orange paper and ink the edges brown. Glue along the right edge of the photo mat next to the edge of the photo. Cut three individual burgundy diamonds from the argyle paper and ink the edges black. Glue the diamonds in a vertical row along the right edge of the photo, tucking them beneath the right edge of the photo. Glue right side of photo in place. Glue matted photo to the page, 3/8” from the right side and ¼” from the bottom.
Journaling: For the left page: Write or computer print journaling on white, then trim to a 3 1/4” x 5” rectangle. Ink the edges brown, then black, and mat on orange squares/dots paper leaving a 1/16” border. Ink the edges and glue to the page, 3/8” from the right side and 1 3/4” from the bottom. Write or computer print words on center of green die-cut tag, then glue below the photo, 2 ¼” from the bottom and 5” from the right side.
For the right page: Write or computer print journaling on white, then trim to a 2 3/4” x 3 3/4” rectangle. Ink edges brown, then black, and mat on orange squares/dots paper leaving a 1/16” border. Ink edges and glue to the page, 1” from the left side and 3/4” from the bottom.
Journaling Technique with alphabet tiles: For the left page: Cut out alphabet tiles to spell the title, initials, and the first letter of the first word on the tag. Ink the edges of each tile brown, then black and let dry. Apply orange chalk to each tile. Glue the tile to the tag for the first letter as shown. Apply foam tape to the backs of remaining letters and numbers. Overlap the two initials and attach over the lower right corner of the photo. Cut 2” from the length of green velvet ribbon and foam tape the letters along the long piece of ribbon as shown. Cut out two burgundy diamonds from the argyle paper and ink edges black. Cut a ¾” x 1” tan/orange/burgundy/blue checked paper rectangle and ink edges black. Place the diamonds and rectangle beneath some of the tiles as shown. Zot™ ribbon across the page, ¾” from the bottom.
For the right page: Cut out alphabet tiles for the year. Ink the edges of each tile brown, then black, and let dry. Apply orange chalk to each tile. Cut out a burgundy diamond from the argyle paper and ink edges black. Place the burgundy diamond beneath the second number. Foam tape vertically to the page, to the right of the upper right photo.
Embellishing with Dazzles: For the left page: Attach two flourishes border stickers across the bottom of the page below the tiles and ribbon. Place another border sticker centered down the right side of the oversized photo mat. Add small stickers to corners of the oversized mat. Attach stickers to upper right corner as shown. Add Dazzle™ sticker “innies” left on the backing sheet from the borders and decorate the alphabet tiles with them as shown.
For the right page: Attach a flourishes border sticker along the right edge of the horizontal photo, trimming excess to fit. Add second flourishes border sticker to the page background, even with the right edge of the 4 x 6 vertical photo. Back extra stickers with burgundy or orange paper and trim around the edges. Foam tape the pieces over the same design of the border. Add stickers to the upper right corner as shown. Add part of a border sticker across the upper left corner of the 4 x 6 vertical photo.
10. Embellishing with Paper Tole Clocks: For the left page: Following the directions on the paper tole sheet, foam tape the pieces together to create the large round clock face, and the alarm clock embellishments. Foam tape the large round clock face to the page, overlapping the oversized photo mat and the journaling block, 1/16” from the right edge and 1 ¼” from the top. Cut an orange squares/dots strip to fit across the center shape of the green tag, and glue in place below the words. Glue the green/brown alarm clock overlapping the left side of the tag as shown.
For the right page: Following the directions on the paper tole sheet, foam tape the pieces together to create the Grandfather clock embellishment. Use double foam tape on the pieces as indicated. Add a small sticker centered on the bottom square of the clock as shown. Glue the clock overlapping the right side of the horizontal photo. Zot™ 2” length of ribbon over the upper left corner of the photo mat.
